Since 1977, Beit Haverim has welcomed, gathered and defended Jewish people LGBTQIA, their relatives and their allies.

An open and vibrant "house of friends".
Beit Haverim is a French Jewish association, and LGBTQIA. We create a space where no one should have to choose between their identity, their emotional life, their gender, their family history, or their connection to Judaism.
Our community is intergenerational, pluralistic and welcoming. You can come to meet people, celebrate a festival, find a listening ear, reflect, share knowledge or simply have a good time.

Our story
A house built generation after generation.
The Beit was born at a time when openly combining one's Jewish and homosexual identities was already a struggle. Since then, each generation has expanded the house.
50years in 2027
197701 / 07 BirthThe first circle
In Paris, a small group of gay and lesbian Jews met. With the support of Pastor Joseph Doucé, the "house of friends" began to take shape.
198002 / 07 StructuringThe group becomes an association
After several years of operating discreetly, Beit Haverim was officially registered as a non-profit association under the 1901 law in October 1980. Mutual aid, welcoming and visibility became a sustainable collective project.
200003 / 07 VisibilityTaking one's place
Throughout the 2000s, Beit strengthened its presence in Pride marches and continued the dialogue with Jewish institutions and LGBTQIA.
200804 / 07 AnchoringA house in the literal sense
The opening of the Maison du Beit in Paris offers the community a permanent anchor point: a place to welcome, meet, celebrate and pass on knowledge.
201705 / 07 Transmission40 years recounted in a book
Judaism and homosexuality: 40 years of history with the Beit Haverim brings together archives, stories and photographs to preserve the memory of struggles and encounters.
201906 / 07 AcknowledgementBeit joins the CRIF
Beit Haverim becomes the first LGBTQIA association to join the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions of France, following a unanimous vote.
